Education ministry to provide lockers to address heavy school bags issue
The instruction ministry will deliver lockers at major educational institutions in two phases starting up this year as an approach to handle the situation of significant faculty luggage for kids.
Schooling Minister Radzi Jidin said the initial section will contain Typical One, Two and Three pupils in schools working in dual sessions, covering 323,186 pupils from 10,662 classes with an estimated allocation of RM37.3 million.
The 2nd period, which is expected to begin in 2023, will include pupils in Typical Four, Five and 6 in faculties functioning in dual sessions.
For single-session universities, pupils will hold their books in the drawers of their desks, he explained in a assertion.
Colleges will also have timetables with three to four topics everyday, with the overall flexibility to put together timetables according to a weekly rotational technique.
Radzi stated exercising publications will also be confined to two publications per issue with every single book not to exceed 80 pages.
Pupils are only allowed to use activity textbooks furnished by the education and learning ministry while workbooks can only be used as reference products.
“Teachers are inspired to use a college student-centred teaching and finding out approach, specifically thematic, modular and job-dependent learning, digital lab or differentiated discovering,” he reported.
He also explained that the ministry would go on making new textbooks in digital format, adding that to day, a total of 692 textbook titles have been uploaded on the Digital Academic Mastering Initiative Malaysia system.
In the meantime, Radzi reported education ministry is in talks with the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) to give versatility to students to dress in their respective faculty uniforms in the course of Kafa college sessions.
“The ministry will intently monitor the implementation of all the strategies outlined. The checking will be done by a activity pressure that will periodically report on the implementation of the initiatives to handle the concern of heavy college bags,” he stated.
