Every year, the Tamil Nadu State Public Service Commission (TNPSC) holds a number of exams to fill vacant positions in state government ministries. TNPSC is in charge of holding the TNPSC Recruitment Exam to fill vacancies in numerous Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, Group 4, Combined Engineering Services and for the positions of Assistant System Engineer, Assistant Engineer (AE), District Educational Officer (DEO) and Village Administrative Officer (VAO).

Each TNPSC exam has its own eligibility requirements. Before filling out the application form for the TNPSC exams, a candidate should be completely informed of the numerous TNPSC eligibility conditions, such as educational qualification and age restriction. As a standard TNPSC test eligibility criterion, all applicants must be fluent in Tamil. In the given article, general eligibility conditions for various TNPSC exams and posts are discussed.

TNPSC Recruitment Notice 2022 is yet to be released by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC). Once the notification is out, the official eligibility criteria can be found. Given below are the eligibility criteria based on the notification of the previous years.

Eligibility Criteria: TNPSC Group 1 Exam 

Nationality: Indian

Education: Graduation degree from any University recognised under the Central Act, the UGC Act, or a State Act.

Age Limit

For all the posts except the post of Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Taxes )

Special physical qualifications are needed for the posts of Deputy Superintendent of Police and the District Officer (Fire and Rescue Operations).

Eligibility Criteria: TNPSC Group 2 Exam

Nationality: Indian

Education: Graduation degree from any University recognised under the Central Act, the UGC Act or a State Act.

Eligibility Criteria: TNPSC Group 3 Exam 

Nationality: Indian

Education: Graduation degree from any University recognised under the Central Act, the UGC Act or a State Act, with the specialisation relevant to the post they are applying

Age Limit: For a General candidate, the minimum age limit to apply for the TNPSC Group 3 exams is 18, and the maximum is 42 years.

Eligibility Criteria: TNPSC Group 4 Exam 

Nationality: Indian

Education: Candidates must have passed the S.S.L.C. Public examinations or any such equivalent examination, and they should be eligible to enrol in higher secondary or college.

Eligibility Criteria: TNPSC District Education Officer Exam 

Nationality: Indian

Education: Applicants must have a Master’s degree, a B.T., or a B.Ed. degree and must have studied Tamil under part 1 or 2 of the pre-university course or the higher secondary course.

Eligibility Criteria: TNPSC Assistant System Engineer Exam 

Nationality: Indian

Education: Applicants must have a B.E. or B. Tech degree in the relevant specialisation. In the case of some posts, a diploma degree in the relevant specialisation also serves the purpose.

Eligibility Criteria: TNPSC Combined Engineering Services Exam 

Nationality: Indian

Education: Applicants must have a B.E. degree or equivalent degree in the specialisation relevant to the post from a university recognised by the UGC, the Central Government, or any state government as per the last recruitment pattern.

Maximum- No Upper Age Limit

Among all the exams conducted by TNPSC, TNPSC Group 1 is the most popular as the recruitment for various posts in the Tamil Nadu state administration, such as Assistant Commissioner, Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police etc., are done through this exam. Aspirants must be aware of the TNPSC Group 1 Syllabus before applying for the exam and prepare accordingly.

Aspirants should also be aware that the TNPSC has made it necessary for applicants to provide their aadhaar card number when filing for the Commission’s exams. Candidates’ fingerprints will be validated using biometric data from aadhaar before they are permitted to appear for examinations in the future. Candidates must also present their school and graduation certificates to verify that they have studied Tamil.
