Ministry of Education signs contract with Publishers Association to print textbooks for basic schools
The Ghana Publishers Association has confirmed the signing of contracts with the Ministry of Education and learning for printing of textbooks for standard universities.
President of the Affiliation, Asare Konadu Yamoah who confirmed this to JoyNews on Top Story, Friday mentioned, “it is real the contracts have been signed. As I converse to you, all the publishers have submitted their copies to the Ministry and with any luck , by Monday, I feel practically all the publishers would have submitted their contracts”.
He noted that the process to get textbooks printed for the fundamental educational institutions, has been ongoing for a whilst and chosen publishers have been notified to get copies of their contracts from the Ministry.
“Once the Ministry has performed its individual selection method, it phone calls the publishers whose guides the Ministry deems in good shape to choose, and engage them to procure and of study course supply them to the universities.
“So it has been ongoing up to the level of past 7 days. Some of the due diligence checks were being also created, the publishers were referred to as to decide on up the contracts, seem at it, sign and submit to the Ministry,” he described.
A assertion issued by the Ministry of Instruction on Friday, Could 20 reported the provision of the textbooks has delayed, but it does not imply the studying elements would be offered in 2024 as some persons have said.

The Ghana National Affiliation of Academics (GNAT) has explained pupils from kindergarten to principal 6 are continue to without textbooks due to the fact the new curriculum was accredited in 2019.
President of GNAT, Dr. Isaac Owusu mentioned that the lack of textbooks and government’s refusal to shell out capitation grants has crippled standard education and learning.
“The new curriculum that was introduced in 2019, was ideally to arrive with its have textbooks that the lecturers will use. It is not that GES or the Ministry of Schooling did a provide and there have been shortages, there hasn’t been any provide at all.
“So because 2019, from kindergarten to class 6 do not have textbooks,” he explained.
