Earth Day Every Day: How Rubicon Customers Hit Their Diversion Goals

At Rubicon®, Earth Day is not just a single moment in the year—it is something we keep in mind every day.

Rubicon’s mission is to end waste, and we take great pride in helping our partners align their business practices to support that mission and help them maximize the economic value of their waste streams.

To this end, I would like to thank all of our customers for their loyalty to our mission, this Earth Day and every day. Furthermore, I would like to recognize a few specific customers that have been going above and beyond to achieve their sustainability and diversion goals over the past year.

Cox

The Cox team has been laser-focused on sustainability for over a decade. In 2007, Cox launched a national sustainability program, Cox Conserves, and over the past decade they’ve made meaningful progress in their journey to become a more sustainable company.

The Cox Conserves goals are to send zero waste to landfill by 2024, and to be carbon and water neutral by 2034. With more than $100 million invested in sustainability and conservation projects, Cox is on track to meet these goals.

Thank you for being a sustainability leader, Cox! Learn more about how Cox Conserves is driving positive environmental change on the Cox Conserves website.

Snooze Eatery

Snooze partnered with Rubicon on a program in which they collect crayons in a separate designated container at their establishments. Once the bucket is full, it gets shipped out for processing and they receive an empty bucket in return. By doing this, they are able to prevent crayons from being sent to landfills.

Snooze also implemented single stream recycling at each of their 40+ locations, as well as a composting program that allows them to properly dispose of meats and other organic materials. Rubicon assisted them in a rightsizing project which allowed them to maximize container usage by using smaller dumpsters.

By implementing these initiatives, Snooze was able to meet their diversion goal of 90 percent. Snooze focuses on sustainability and environmental responsibility from start to finish. They ensure the ingredients they use in their restaurants are Snooze Approved, a standard that holds them and their business partners accountable, and guarantees that their ingredients have a positive impact on people and the planet.

Trilogy Health Services

Trilogy Health Services was looking to centralize their waste services across hundreds of nationwide locations, and gain full visibility into their monthly spending. After selecting Rubicon as their main provider of waste and recycling solutions, they were able to view detailed data on their financials, service, and sustainability as a whole. Rubicon works with each individual property, effectively eliminating the time they would have previously spent worrying about their waste and recycling services, and allowing them to shift their focus to other areas such as resident outreach and experience.

As a result of Trilogy’s partnership with Rubicon, they saw an increase in visibility, diversion, and service quality. After fully integrating their locations into the RUBICONConnect™ portal, Trilogy gained a full view of data across all locations that allowed them to track spending and identify opportunities for cost savings. By adding recycling to new and existing locations, they diverted over 2,000 tons of waste from the landfill and got it into recycling facilities. Lastly, with Rubicon as their centralized point of contact, Trilogy achieved a 99.8 percent on-time pickup performance.

Thank you to every loyal customer that partners with Rubicon for joining us on our mission to end waste! If you would like to learn more about how Rubicon’s sustainability offerings can benefit your business, please reach out to me any time at [email protected].
